ECOllective EnSEMBLE is a Hamburg-based group navigating the edges of free improvisation, where children songs, rock ecstasy, jazz extravaganza and avant-grade catharsis come together. Over the past two years, the ensemble has cultivated a shared sonic language rooted in deep listening, spontaneity, and a curiosity for where sound can lead. The name ECOllective comes from an ecologically sustainable attitude towards art, which aims to create music not to be consumed but to transcend and leave a trace on both performers and listeners.

Their practice embraces both structure and abstraction, resulting in a sound that feels exploratory yet grounded, with no fear of everyday's simplicity or dream's weirdness. Collaborations have included acclaimed drummer Moritz Baumgärtner at JazzHall Hamburg, and celebrated dancer Annick Schadeck for a performance at the Kunsthalle Hamburg.

Laboratory Fragments is a collage of several free improvised sets recorded in sessions between 2023 and 2024, in which the musicians explored their own artistic boundaries and went through almost therapeutical musical experiences. The material is honest and raw and is bound by an energetic sense of freedom and intimacy.

Hall Fragments is a single free improvised set recorded in a session at the Jazzhall Hamburg on the 13th of December 2024. It orbits around silence and expression, like the first brushstrokes upon an empty canvas. The acoustic setting of this set enhances both the dynamic and timbral palette of the ensemble. credits released May 3, 2025
